A PiYo Testimonial!

Feels like a PiYo day. In the mood for some low impact core work. People doing this program have been having amazing results!! Including me (just call me muscles mom!) Especially for those with bad knees or backs. No jumps!!!! Woo hoo. And no joke. Truly a great program for all levels of fitness.

One of my friends has been doing this program since December. She also suffers from a bad back which had been holding her back. I recommend she give PiYo a try. And she shared this with me the other day. Fills my heart with joy that she's having this kind of result!!!

"PiYo Core and I have to say I've hit a milestone and I'm near tears. In the last two weeks I've done things I haven't been able to do in years due to my bulging discs and I'm 31. I was able to scrub my shower on my hands and knees and I spent ALL day at the swap meet and park with my daughter and her cousins PAIN FREE. To top it off, I just finished my Core workout. Since Dec. 1 I've dedicated myself to taking care of me and I am such a better mom for it. Thanks to Barbara Hammond for your motivation. I can't wait to continue this journey to a pain free, happy life!!!!"

If you've got bad knees, bad back, whatever, maybe this is your soul mate program. I could go on and on and on. But will stop here. Of course if you want to talk more, I'm happy to do that too. #PiYoPower #NoJumps #NoJoke

If you are determined to learn...

I have people who come to me with questions on how they can lose weight since they have fibromyalga, pcos, thyroid disease.... Insert your condition here ________.

While I can't comment on specific health issues, I can say that many of us have something.

Me? Ulcerative colitis. Have PCOS too. Just had my gallbladder taken out. Might even have something going on with my lung!! And I don't even smoke.

The trick is figuring out what will work with the obstacles we are all faced with. It's not easy. But it is rewarding!! ‪#‎WednesdayWisdom‬ ‪#‎NoExcuse‬‪#‎NotEasyButWorthIt‬

How to beat your craving for soda...

How to beat your craving for soda...

"Instead, try these options:

Start slow by replacing sugared sodas with diet ones. "They're not that great for you, but in terms of obesity, I'd rather see you drinking diet than sugared," says Field.

Cut down gradually: replace one regular soft drink (or one diet soda) per day with an alternative drink. The best choice: water. "There may be health benefits to water even beyond those linked with cutting calories," says Popkin. "We were biologically evolved to drink water, and a series of new studies being published suggests that there are some extra metabolic effects of drinking water."
If you really need something with a boost of flavor, try calorie-free flavored waters and seltzers.
If it's the caffeine you crave, you're better off with tea or coffee, with minimal added sugars."

PCOS and "Anovulatory Cycles". What is that?

Going to get personal and share this. "Anovulatory Cycles". What is that?

When you have PCOS, you may or may NOT pop out an egg to make a baby. And if you do, good luck discovering when to "catch" that egg. Our bodies won't ovulate regularly. Our cycles can last months!! Yes MONTHS! We spend too much money on negative pregnancy tests. We buy ovulation prediction tests that tell us nothing. Only by charting my own cycles did I learn something was not right!

I wrote an article about this back in 2011 on my blog, and you all should go check it out here: http://bwarsh.blogspot.com/2011/09/pcos-what-exactly-is-it-as-seen-from-my.html

Why share this? To help understand WHAT is going on. Knowing the problem makes it easier to formulate a solution.

Back in 2004 (that's when these cycles were charted) I had no idea I had this issue/condition. I was told my cycles could regulate IF I lost weight. That part WAS true. How to lose weight was the new battle. But one I was able to take on as well.

We all CAN lose the weight. It's wicked hard. Harder for all of us with PCOS. But not impossible.

I met with a reproductive endocrinologist. She helped me get set up with a nutritionist. We cleaned house. I tried a variety of different workouts. Eventually it all clicked. I lost 70 lbs initially and in 2006 got pregnant with my daughter.

After I had her, I gained that weight back and then some. My cycles however were actually regular. As if having her reset my system. Not gonna lie, that was fantastic. But I was still big. I still had acne. I still had hairs on my chiny chin chin... I will always have PCOS. I know that now. But I won't let it win.

Get Shakeology for 1 month and get 21 day fix or 21 day fix extreme for $10 more.

Get Shakeology for 1 month and you get the popular 21 day fix or the new 21 day fix extreme for $10 more. Your choice! And you get me to coach you through it!!!! Let's get you set up for success! My 10 day Shakeology group is starting up on 2/23, and my next Fit Club begins on 3/2! Wouldn't it be great to do both???? Let's talk! https://bit.ly/FreeCoachBwarsh

Looks like the Fitbit rash is back!

1/2/16: UPDATE:

NEW EVIDENCE FOUND. SWEAT COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE CHARGER MAY BE THE REASON BEHIND THESE RASHES!

Read the article from ABC13 below.
http://abc13.com/technology/possible-cause-of-fitbit-rashes-uncovered/760009/

Looks like the Fitbit Rash is back!

Do you have the old Flex or one of the new band trackers from Fitbit? Are you having the rash issue too?

I had the Fitbit flex and after a year and a half with zero issues, I suddenly started getting that rash I'd heard others having.

SO I contacted Fitbit and they told me to stop wearing it! They had me send it back and they let me swap my flex for "The One", which I'm very happy with.

I never wore mine tight. I never got it wet, and I didn't sleep with it on. It was clean too. Just happened. and no, I don't have sensitive skin either.

If you are experiencing a rash from your wrist wearing Fitbit, I'd suggest stop wearing it (seems good advice, no?) and contact Fitbit to arrange a swap or refund.

Here's an article on Yahoo Tech about the latest developments with the Fitbit rash: http://buff.ly/1EhxFHN

Now I tried to find their customer service telephone number but it seems to have disappeared off their site. Therefore, here is a link to their contact us feature. Send them an email for now and if I can dig up their phone number, I'll share it! Fitbit Contact Us Page: http://buff.ly/1EhxHiI

Update: FOUND IT!!! Fitbits toll free customer service phone number: 877-623-4997. I just checked it and at the moment it's still working!!!
