No cheating. You're better than that.

I get asked a lot about CHEAT DAY's or CHEAT MEALS and whether I do them, or think it's okay to do them.

No cheating! I'm better than that.

Getting real here. Take yourself out of the big picture and focus on the daily goal. What do you need to do today? Just that. Serious baby steps. This is what I've been doing all along and it works for a lot of people I work with too. I don't "cheat".

That's such an icky word and concept. We get in trouble if we are caught cheating, so why is this okay when we're changing our lifestyles too? In my book it's not. I personally don't do cheat days or even cheat meals. Last time I did I suffered actually. Physically got ill and it wasn't worth it.

So today, in the now, in this moment, what do I need to do today? I need to log my food. I need to drink water. I need to get a workout in. I need to do my job. I need to get something mailed out, I need to go to the grocery store at lunch. I need to visit the beach and breathe in the ocean air. I need to listen to personal development on my commute home. I need to get to bed early. This is today.

This is A LOT.

I'm focused on today! Tomorrow I will have new focus and try to get through as well. And before you know it a week has gone by, a month, 5 years!! Because I did this, my needs and cravings changed. I'm craving bell peppers to snack on because I want the sweet and crunch. That's a million miles away from when I craved french fries, or chips. And I'll tell ya.... after I reset mind mind, the rest just fell into place. It really did! No cheating. We're better than that. We all are. I don't want to be cheated on, and I'm guessing neither do you. xoxo

My next Nutrition/Shakeology/Walking group (for beginners) will start Monday, 4/20, and go for 2 weeks!!!!! That gives everyone plenty of time to get their challenge pack (CP) ordered and delivered.

This group is for beginners. We will learn about nutrition, drink Shakeology daily, and focus on walking for our exercise.

Coconut Oil is a great fat option and I use it now in place of many other fats and oils. While higher in calories, it's metabolized much more efficiently and therefore works for you! So I make sure to budget the calories accordingly. It will actually help boost your metabolism by 5% according to my nutritionist. Officially in the Super-Food category. :)

Want to walk and run, but have sore shins and knees

I want to walk and run. But my feet hurt. I have bad knees. I have shin splints...... So I guess I can't.

W-R-O-N-G!!!

I totally thought the same thing. I climbed on a treadmill and attempted to get 5 minutes in. FAIL!!!

But then I went to a sporting goods store and had them help me select shoes that were perfect for me. The very first time I used my new shoes, the pain was gone as was this excuse. I totally COULD walk and run. Sure I was super slow, but I wasn't hurting in my knees and shins anymore.

BIG Difference. HUGE!

There are many many MANY brands of sneakers on the market. Everyone will have an opinion as to which YOU should get.

My opinion is for you to go and get evaluated!!!! And most brands also have a "shoe advisor" on their websites, so if you are not able to get to a sneaker specialty store, try one of these.

HOW TO LOG FOOD, A BEGINNERS GUIDE

Let's talk about food diaries and a little about my fitness pal (which is the food diary app I use).

In the beginning, it does seem like a lot. Set up your goals, how much do you move, how much do you THINK you'll exercise, how many pounds a week should you target to lose....

ACK!


So let's dial it back. That's a LOT to absorb right at the beginning. It IS daunting, right? It was for me, that's for sure.

Toss all that out. Start fresh. Just go in and log your food. That's IT. Don't worry about changing it up yet. Just log it if you eat it. PERIOD!

Keep it simple.

By going in and just logging your food; the good, the bad, and the ugly, you actually ARE accomplishing something amazing!

WHAT?

I'm glad you asked!!!

You're creating a NEW HABIT. A new habit of seeing exactly what is going into your body. Are you mindlessly snacking? Are you at Starbucks and eyeballing that slice of banana bread? Surely that's a good choice, right??? (by the way... NOPE, bad choice...)

If you begin every meal, snack, drink by opening up your food diary app and pre-entering in that item before ingesting it, you can see IF YOU SHOULD even bother, or perhaps skip it this time.

Also, by logging all your food, you collect wonderful data so that after 2 weeks have passed, you can now take a look at what you're doing on average and see where you can make a change; a healthier change.

Eating better does NOT MEAN eating boring. You know?

Spring ahead time is here!

This is the same woman...gaining weight and getting SMALLER!


LOVE this photo. This is the same woman, and you can see as she tones up, she GAINS weight. I've experienced this somewhat, and I love how this photo shows this occurrence. Muscle is more dense then fat. It's very common to gain weight and lose inches. Happens ALL THE TIME. IT's okay to measure your journey to getting healthy by seeing how loose your clothes now fit. Keep doing good things, healthy habits. The point to all of this is to get healthy. Right?
